We Have 3 Years Left. Let’s Use Them Wisely.

These are not just numbers. They are milestones on a timeline no one asked for — but one we must all act on.

Africa emits less than 4% of global emissions, yet it’s enduring its deadliest climate crisis in over a decade. Source

  • 221 million affected in 5 years
  • 28,759 deaths — 3x the previous period
  • Droughts, floods, heatwaves worsening across the continent

But in the face of this, my grandmother would say:

“You don’t wait for rain. You dig the trench and plant anyway.”

Because faith is action. And action backed by data is leadership.

She’d sit beneath the mango tree in her wrapper, sipping warm porridge, and remind us:

“The sun never asks your age before it burns your skin.”

Resilience, she’d say, isn’t youth climbing — it’s elders surviving. But today, the sun doesn’t warm. It scorches — with memory loss, lung strain, and waves too hot for brittle bones.

Yet we continue to under-count, under-fund, and overlook those most at risk:
